What is the L-1 Visa?
The L-1 visa is a nonimmigrant work visa for foreign nationals transferring within the same company to a U.S. location.
L-1A
For executives and managers (valid for up to 7 years)
L-1B
For employees with specialized knowledge (valid for up to 5 years)
Who is Eligible for the L-1 Visa?
To qualify, you must:
Have worked abroad for a qualifying organization for at least 1 year within the last 3 years
Be transferring to a U.S. office in an executive, managerial, or specialized knowledge role
Be joining a company with a qualifying corporate relationship (e.g., parent, branch, affiliate, subsidiary)
